My picks, perks, quirks and a few chuckles I'd like to share with you.

My choices, or picks as I've called them, were varied over time. I am no longer married to the man I chose for life, but I have a beautiful 26 year old daughter from that union. She's attending community college right now, trying to upgrade her skills in computer sciences. I am very proud that she has found her way.

I always liked drawing, especially in public school (art was my favourite subject). As I grew older, however,
I felt it was not a profitable profession for me to consider. So...I became a marketing major instead. I very much enjoyed my years in the private sector, especially the firms that I developed advertising and packaging materials for. Yet again, monetary concerns led me to change horses in mid-stream, so to speak, and I took a job with the provincial government. I found myself taking more courses. This time it was more accounting, which I never really liked. As a single mom, though, it made "paying the bills" a little easier.

The perks in my life were graduating with honours, learning how to drive and getting my own car, my daughter, and last, but not least, my computer. *grin*

Designing graphics has become my obsession. With every set I make, my abilities improve. The only downside, at first, was learning HTML. I procrastinated for months. Finally realized I couldn't do anything
with my artwork until I learned how to put it on the web. With the help of "Arachnophilia" I have been able
to do just that. Now I'm doing even more challenging applications, like mouse-overs and splash screens! lol Javascripts are great fun!

The quirks, which I've left second to last, have taken their toll on me. My marital breakdown was hard, but I eventually got over it. Which brings me to the greatest challenge I have ever faced. I have Multiple Sclerosis and am now on long-term disability. I had to leave my job in September of 1997. I also had my driver's license suspended due to vision problems associated with M.S. I tried to "knit" my problems away at first (everyone in my family has a few sweaters). *smile* Then I finally decided to get a computer. The knitting got forgotten; heck it was hard on my eyes any way! *grin* Then I discovered computer graphics... I must have tried out every shareware program on the net. December/98 I finally settled on Paint Shop Pro 5 and ordered a copy of the program. Next I bought Blade Pro. Haven't looked back since. So I'm in some debt, but it help keeps my "grey matter functional", as I like to say. I also wanted to help other disabled persons make homepages. Now I can do that too. Give me a shout if help is needed! *smile*

And now for a few "chuckles". Laughter, even a small grin, is truly the best medicine!

The only stupid question is the one that is never asked, except maybe "Don't you think it is about time
you audited my return?" or, "Isn't it morally wrong to give me a warning when, in fact, I was speeding?"

I believe you should live each day as if it was your last, which is why I don't have any clean laundry...
because, come on,...who wants to do laundry on the last day of their life???

For centuries, people thought the moon was made of green cheese. Then the astronauts found that
the moon was really a big hard rock. That's what happens to cheese when you leave it out.

If you really want to impress people with your computer literacy, add the words "dot com" to the end of everything you say,...dot com.

There's one good thing about getting older....."experience" doesn't depreciate. (A "Nancy" original) *grin*

Just another crazy Canuck, eh? ;-)
